Beijing, Oct 6 (Xinhua) A strong earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale late Sunday jolted the Wuqia county in the northwestern Chinese province of Xinjiang Uygur, officials said.

The quake occurred at 23.52 p.m., the National Seismological Network said, adding that there were no reports of casualties so far.
